The Rules of Golf govern how every golfer plays the game. At England Golf, we provide support for golf club members, golf clubs and counties in the education and delivery of the Rules of Golf.

For clubs and their members, a key initiative is the Club Rules Ambassador programme, which gives each club the opportunity to qualify someone as a Club Rules Ambassador.

This equips them with the knowledge to educate their members on the Rules and set their course and Local Rules up in a way that is fair for all players and consistent with the Rules of Golf. We are also offering Rules Support packages to further assist with this. For counties, we support the development of referees by assisting the delivery of R&A Level 2 Rules Seminars and working with The R&A to help the most experienced referees to progress to Level 3.

We have created a pyramid of Rules of Golf education. An individual can work their way through the pyramid by attending courses, sitting online exams, and at the higher levels, engaging in refereeing. If you aren’t on the pyramid yet, you can get started by taking the online R&A Level 1 Rules course here. Completing the exam with 80% or above will make you eligible to attend a Level 2 Seminar – you can find the details of those here.
