Women and Girls Golf Week
The online and digital campaign aimed at celebrating female successes on and off the course, shares inspiring and positive stories involving females and their participation at all levels of the game.
The 2023 campaign coincided with the staging of the AIG Women’s Open, which was held at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, where the focus of the world’s media attention was on the female game.
We engaged a mix of professional golfers, celebrities, golf insiders and club players to share their stories around the hashtag #WhyIGolf.
Each day of the campaign focused on a different theme to showcase the wide variety of ways women and girls of all ages can get into golf. See some of our highlights from this years campaign below…

Role Models
Aimee Sawyer, the current Mendip Golf Club Ladies Captain, has recently overcome significant adversity to defy the odds and become 2023 Somerset Ladies champion/
After suffering 58.5% body burns, she was told she might never play golf again, but instead has used golf to aid in her rehabilitation. She recently became Somerset County Champion, with the support of her coach Stuart Disney and her club.
Health & Wellbeing
Enjoyment is the biggest driver in engaging people in sport and activity. Alongside This Girl Can, the enjoyment gap is something we can close using four key action areas.
By challenging obstacles that make activity feel less welcoming for women and girls, our aim is to make golf a safe, self-affirming, social and suitable environment.
Women and Girls Golf Week Club Skills Challenge
This year England Golf ran the Club Skills Challenge in the lead up to Women and Girls Golf week with clubs from the surrounding areas.
The aim of the Club Skills Challenge is to create an environment where juniors can have fun whilst still learning the basic skills which will help them develop their golf.
