Member or customer satisfaction can also largely be impacted by the strength of a clubs governance, with survey data highlighting the effectiveness of the Board or management group showing in the Top 3 most important satisfaction metrics in 42% of clubs.

The benefits of having good governance can be seen throughout all aspects of club operations – from driving effective decision making, better recruitment of future Board members through to developing a positive culture and promoting a more inclusive and accessible environment.

Our governance support is designed to encourage a direction of travel to help make improvements in a structured way, breaking the key components into different stages and focusing on the different elements in order of importance.

For clubs or facilities that are further forward in their journey or have specific areas they wish to focus on, the content is arranged in a modular format allowing for it to be utilised in the way that best suits their needs.

Stage 1

In governance, mastering the basics helps to create a solid foundation to build from. As part of the process of making improvements, its important to focus on these key areas to provide a platform for growth.

Stage 2

With the essential elements now taken care of, Stage 2 focusses on setting you up for success. It considers your structure along with the systems & processes which enable you to deliver your objectives.

Stage 3

Once the appropriate structures are in place, the club can now drive itself forward by creating a documented strategic plan. Having effective policies and procedures in place is key but focus also needs to be given to the workforce and its structure to ensure any plans can be delivered.

Stage 4

Now the club is on a firmer footing with the fundamental elements under control, other areas of your operation can be enhanced. This could include a number of different aspects and likely could be connected to the long-term vision for the future.
